A BIT ABOUT ME

From the Ballpark to the Corner: A Big-League Mindset for the Fight Game

Sam Horn, former Major League Baseball slugger and Boston Red Sox legend, is leveraging over 20 years of elite athletic, media, and leadership experience to help shape the future of combat sports in New England and beyond. Known for his towering home runs, his commanding presence in front of the camera, and his unwavering commitment to community, Horn is now bringing his signature energy and insight into the world of boxing and mixed martial arts as a strategic consultant, ambassador, and connector of people, brands, and moments.

Drafted 16th overall by the Boston Red Sox in 1982, Horn quickly became one of the most feared power hitters of his era, making an unforgettable debut with 14 home runs in his first 46 games. Over the course of his career, he played professionally across the U.S., Canada, Asia, and Mexico, earning accolades including MVP honors and a home run title in Taiwan. His success on the field was matched by his off-the-field charisma—traits that seamlessly translate to the spectacle and strategy of combat sports.

Following his retirement from baseball, Horn reinvented himself as a respected sports analyst for NESN, a corporate ambassador for the Red Sox, and a creator and host of the television show “What is Your Pre-Game?” on NBC Sports Boston. Through his media work and corporate outreach, Horn mastered the art of audience engagement, brand activation, and athlete storytelling—all critical ingredients in building successful fight promotions. His relationships span the sports media landscape, corporate boardrooms, and grassroots communities alike.

Horn’s leadership extends deep into community and nonprofit work, having served as Director of Outreach for Mass General’s Sports Performance Center, and as Senior VP of Outreach for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals in Washington, D.C., where he helped lead “Justice for Veterans” initiatives alongside the U.S. Attorney General. In every role, Sam has demonstrated an unmatched ability to motivate, communicate, and build programs that deliver real impact.

In founding Kapow Media Group and leading countless events for brands like Bank of America, Verizon, JetBlue, and the Red Sox Foundation, Horn has repeatedly shown his strength in event development, client engagement, and high-end experiential marketing—skills that are vital to the modern combat sports industry. Whether curating VIP fan experiences or mentoring young athletes, his work consistently bridges the gap between performance, passion, and purpose.

Now, with EESS Combat Sports Consulting and other ventures, Horn is channeling his experience into revitalizing the fight scene across New England. His athlete-first perspective, media savvy, and dedication to excellence make him a uniquely valuable asset in a sport where building stars, engaging communities, and delivering unforgettable events is everything.

In the ring, as on the diamond, success is about timing, pressure, and performance. Sam Horn knows how to deliver—all while inspiring those around him to rise to the occasion.
